What is a birth doula and what are the benefits?
A birth doula is a trained professional who offers continuous support to a mother throughout pregnancy, labor, and shortly after childbirth. They provide emotional encouragement, physical comfort measures, and information to help ensure a positive birth experience. Having a doula present during childbirth can result in shorter labor, fewer interventions, a higher rate of spontaneous vaginal birth, lower rates of C-section, and greater maternal satisfaction with the birth experience.
